Take a train to Ruifang Railway Station, transfer to the Pingsi Branch Line 平溪支线  and get off at Shifen. (30min excluding waiting time)


Pingxi Line is one of the remaining three branch lines that still exist in Taiwan, and is now used mainly for tourist purposes. With a day ticket, we took a special train to the towns of Shifen 十分, Jingtong 菁桐 and Pingxi 平溪, the three main towns along this branch line. Each town is full of rewarding sights and activities, and kept in their old, traditional facade.

Board the Pingsi Railway Train at the same railway track you have aligned from Taipei Railway Station. There is an unlimited ride ticket for Pingsi Branch Line at NT54 which can be obtain at Taipei Railway Station Ticket Counters and Ruifang Railway Station. This ticket allows you to board and also alight at any of stations along Pingsi Branch Line. Remember to hold on the Pingsi unlimited ride ticket till you have left this Ping Xi Branch Line. 

The details of the Pingsi Branch can be obtained at Ruifang Railway Station (A metal board at the middle of the train station, showing the route map and the nearby place of interest of individual station.)

Leave the train station, walk down the stairs and turn left, there is mini photos exhibition in the tunnel, exist at the last right turn. Walking up the stairs, on the right, you might want to get to Jiufen or find some food. If you walk straight towards the lockers, you would find a Visitor Centre behind the lockers. Tourism Rubber Stamps are located in the Visitor Centre.

By train: Take a train to either Badu or Ruifang (八堵 or 瑞芳), and take the Pingshi line平溪支線  to Shifen十分.  Walk back in the direction you came, about 800 meters, which is about an 8 minute walk to the lower entrance of the site.

By bus: Take the Muzha MRT to Muzha Station.  Then take Taipei Bus Company's No. 16 bus (台北客運16路公車) to Shi Fen (於十分寮下車).

Route 1 : Take THSR to Taipei THSR Station, transfer to Taipei Railway Station to Ruifang Railway station. Exist Railway station, walking down the stairs, turn left to the underground tunnel. Turn left to go to the main road, once you reached the main road, cross the road and turn left, you can found a bus stop Shihfen written on the bus stop signage board in about 300m away. Take Bus 788 or Bus 1062 (Both bus go to Jinguashi after Jiufen stop). If you are using Easy Card, remember to tap the card when boarding Bus 788. Bus 1062 needs to tap on boarding and alighting. If the tapping machine is down, the bus conductor will let you know how much to pay when boarding, this allows us to prepare it in advance.

Buses getting to Yeliu：

1. Taipei to Yehliu - Guokuang Bus / 1 hour 20 minutes / NT$96 (台北往野柳 -國光客運/1小時20分/96元)
   
   • Make your way to Taipei West Bus Station Terminal A, Taipei Main Station. Take the GuoGuang Express bus (国光客运) and alight at Yehliu stop. Tell them that you wish to go to Yeliu and ask them where to take the bus and let them know you are paying by EasyCard. Otherwise, it's about NT$96 per person. The bus comes every 20 minutes. (Weekdays: the first bus at 05:40am and the last bus at 11:00pm; Weekends: the first bus at 06:30am and the last bus at 11:00pm.) 
   • Yehliu to Taipei - Guokuang Bus / 1 hour 20 minutes / NT$96 (野柳往台北-國光客運/1小時20分/96元)
2. Take the express bus (bound for Jinshan or Tamsui) at Keelung station (near Keelung Railway Station). The Bus comes every 10 minute. (the first bus at 05:40 am and the last bus at 10:40pm).
3. Danshui to Yehliu - Keelung Bus or Danshui passenger / 1 hour 30 minutes / NT$120 ( 淡水往野柳 -基隆客運或淡水客運/1小時30分/120元)
   
   • Take the express bus (bound to Jinshan) at Tamshui station (near Tamshui MRT Station); alight at Yehliu stop. The bus comes every 30 minutes (the first bus at 05:50am and the last bus at 10:20pm).
   • Yeliou-Danshui - Keelung Bus or Danshui passenger / 1 hour 30 minutes / NT$120 (野柳往淡水-基隆客運或淡水客運/1小時30分/120元)
